Dinner at Karen’s house :-)

Summer is finally here and the weather is getting hotter than hotter everyday.  Instead of eating out, we decided to made ourselves a lovely dinner at Karen’s house and I headed there early to help of course.  Cutting the geoduck (象拔蚌) took me sometime because every slice has to be paper thin, cutting the pork neck meat (豬頸肉) into strips was alright and not to mention I also had to marinate those chicken wings too 😛  The outcome was amazingly good as expected, geoduck with pork neck was cooked just right, wings were perfect and everything on the table was mouth watering!!!  At first I thought we cooked too much for 6 adults but at the end, we basically finished all the dishes, so what does that tell you eh??  😛

Ricky was here!!!

Glad to see Ricky came back to Toronto for a short visit, I don’t even remember when he left Toronto but this was a perfect opportunity for some old friends reunion.  Years ago, a small group of our friends went back to Hong Kong then people started going different directions, so quite a lot of people that we haven’t seen for a long while.  Anyways, we decided to have our old friends gathering dinner at Moxie’s.  The night was awesome, we tried to catch up everyone and stuffs, reminds me of old times having poker nights and hanging out together.  Oh and big congratulations to Cindy of her pregnancy too!!!

Ceramic charcoal BBQ

Thanks Ruby and Jason for a wonderful BBQ dinner over the weekend, I have a admit Jason really out did himself and his BBQ skill is really great, or maybe it was his new BBQ ummm…  First time seeing a whole chicken being grilled in a ceramic charcoal BBQ, I was told that Jason did a lot of research, watched a lot of youtube videos to come up with this beer chicken and it was bloody fantastic!!!  And of course Ruby helped out the rest of the food too I am sure 😛  The cedar salmon was cooked just right, those little potato were crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, plus my favorites, Chinese sausages and pork neck was tendered!!!

The night was awesome, food was delicious, poor Jason was going in and out the kitchen/yard checking on food and we spent a lot of time chatting, BS, chatting…  with all that being said, I really think Ruby and Jason should host more BBQ at their place so we can enjoy everything that CHEF Jason made 😛

樂園 (Nak Won) Korean Restaurant

樂園 (Nak Won) Korean Restaurant has a few locations in Toronto area but I had never been to one until now.  A new location was opened a few months ago at Weldrick rd. and Yonge st. and I finally got a chance to try this place out.  Same as a lot of Korean restaurants, this one has all you can eat BBQ and normal fine dinning to choose from.  Since I/we wanted to try their different varieties of food, we chose to order dishes separately.  We were quite happy with everything we ordered really, the beef was tendered, the kids loved the yummy noodles and the presentation on everything was perfect, just take a look at the mouth watering pictures below.  I would definately recommend this to everyone if you are looking for a mid grade Korean Restaurant.  Why mid grade?  Well, food is really not bad compare to the a few others but service wasn’t the greatest…  We had our food on the table and we got no bowls or plates, BBQ ribs arrived with no knife or scissors and other little things…  Maybe my friends didn’t notice while we were there but it is something that I am looking for in a restaurant really, maybe the other locations are better, I don’t know 😛  Anyways, this is really another option if you are looking for Korean food in that Richmond Hill area, tho other ones are at least a few blocks away I think!?

Cherry Blossoms 2013

Perfect timing for a perfect cherry blossoms at High Park Toronto and all Sakura trees are now in full bloom!!!  I remember the last time I was there was 3 years ago when it was almost at the end of the season which I thought it was amazing already but this time, I really know how amazing cherry blossoms can be in real.  It was a Sunday afternoon where the sun was in full blast and no clouds around, cars were stuck in traffics and people were totally packed the area.  It was a scene where I thought half of the people who lived in Toronto were there enjoying this cherry blossoms.

A cool tip for all of you if you are planning to go this coming week or even in the future, parking was a pain in the ass from what I saw, but did you know that there is a TTC subway station just around the corner with parking and its free during the weekends?!  Yup, its free, tons of parking spaces and that’s where we parked.

Anyways, it was another cool experience seeing it first hand, the day went by so fast that we ended up walking for almost 5 hrs in total.  Conclusion, hot, tiring and super annoyed at the playground near the end of the park where we stayed a little bit for the kids to play…
