樂園 (Nak Won) Korean Restaurant

樂園 (Nak Won) Korean Restaurant has a few locations in Toronto area but I had never been to one until now.  A new location was opened a few months ago at Weldrick rd. and Yonge st. and I finally got a chance to try this place out.  Same as a lot of Korean restaurants, this one has all you can eat BBQ and normal fine dinning to choose from.  Since I/we wanted to try their different varieties of food, we chose to order dishes separately.  We were quite happy with everything we ordered really, the beef was tendered, the kids loved the yummy noodles and the presentation on everything was perfect, just take a look at the mouth watering pictures below.  I would definately recommend this to everyone if you are looking for a mid grade Korean Restaurant.  Why mid grade?  Well, food is really not bad compare to the a few others but service wasn’t the greatest…  We had our food on the table and we got no bowls or plates, BBQ ribs arrived with no knife or scissors and other little things…  Maybe my friends didn’t notice while we were there but it is something that I am looking for in a restaurant really, maybe the other locations are better, I don’t know 😛  Anyways, this is really another option if you are looking for Korean food in that Richmond Hill area, tho other ones are at least a few blocks away I think!?

Celebrating Karen’s Bday early @ TOMO SUSHI Japanese Restaurant

It has been kind of a tradition that me and my friends would treat the birthday person a nice meal and to celebrate Karen’s up coming birthday, we picked TOMO SUSHI.  The last time I was there was with my Aunties http://www.karlng.com/blog/?p=5522 and with 10 people this time we could order a whole lot more 😛  As usual, I always enjoy the moments with my friends no matter what we do and having nice dinners with them would just step a notch up 😛  From what I remembered from my last experience was that their food was really good and the presentation of food was quite amazing and over the years I have learned food presentation would definitely make food taste a lot better and ummm, just compare the pictures I took from months ago http://www.karlng.com/blog/?p=5522 and below… noticed anything different?  Food was still great… if I closed my eyes if you know what I mean…  Anyways, it was still super fun hanging out with friends and of course, wishing Karen a super happy birthday this coming Friday 😀

Not sure if I want to dine in there again… but take out is still good tho 😛

Spoon & Fork Japanese. Thai…

Spoon & Fork Japanese. Thai… is yet another Franchise restaurant located in Ontario which serves all you can eat Japanese & Thai buffet and the one located in Vaughan which is probably the closest nearby from Toronto area. All my friends know that I don’t go to buffets often but their Thai food sounded very promising too so I had to give it a try. As usual, I would order mostly cooked dishes instead of sashimi in a Japanese buffets because you can’t really expect too much from all you can eat sashimi/sushi. And I was right, all of their cooked dishes were well made and delicious just like something you can find in a fine diner, which you know they put their heart into everything that they made and I didn’t expect from a buffet style restaurant really 😛 BUT one thing I found very annoying was the portion, an order of a main course dish is really a main course portion, so if you order one of their specialty noodles, they would get you a full plate of it, umm… and that would make your stomach full right away… that is why if you want to try more different varieties of their food, you should go as a group to share. As you can tell from the pictures I took, I went with a friend so we didn’t get to try EVERYTHING 😛 well, self noted hehe

松田日本料理 Matsuda Japanese Cuisine

I haven’t had all you can eat Japanese buffet for years and my friend asked me to try this one because it is a quite famous one in Scarborough area, 松田日本料理 Matsuda Japanese Cuisine.  As usual, I order things differently in Japanese buffets, I would order cooked food a lot more than raw like sushi and sashimi because I think in an all you can eat buffet restaurant, sushi and sashimi would only be ok.  So to really test out the true quality of the restaurant, I ordered quite a lot of the cooked food 😀  The end result was not bad for the price, for $22 dinner, the food was very satisfying, everything I tried was good, surprisingly, the dessert was quite good too.  This is a perfect place for gathering for sure, did I mention the wait time without reservation?  I got there at 830, was told to wait 75 mins…  anyways, this is one of the reasons why you have to try this restaurant at least once, with that long of a wait time, it’s got to be good right?  hehe 😀  And don’t forget to make a reservation first, their no. is 416.298.2998, enjoy 😀

Don Don Izakaya

Don Don Izakaya, another Japanese style tapas bar located in Toronto downtown.  I am soo glad that we made it to the restaurant because the weather was horrible when we started to head there, a pouring rain that looked like the sky was falling…  Anyways, the restaurant was very unique, more like a Japanese style added with a lot of modern touch as the pictures below.  Once you enter, they would hit the drums, typical welcome cheer of “Irasshaimase!” to welcome you, lots of young people there, both the customers and waiters/waitresses makes it very comfortable :p  Food is good, not too much surprise like the other one I tried before, but  I love the way they cook their food, the tenderness on everything was just right, one thing we don’t like was most food were too salty, other than that, everything would had been perfect.  Price wise is really ok, take a look at how many plates we ordered in the pictures and 2 pitchers of beer for less than $50 a person, not bad at all :-p  If you have never been to a Japanese style tapas bar, this place is a good start really 😀
