HANSIK Korean Restaurant

Korean BBQ, one of my most favorite food in this whole wide world and thanks to Shu and Cheryl for finding this amazing restaurant!!!  In a location that I would have never thought of, right on Finch Ave. and Dufferin, in between warehouses and shops there is HANSIK Korean Restaurant (according to their website, hansik means Korean food).  A smoke free BBQ restaurant which actually let you walk out from your dinner without smelling like a BBQ.  Inside was huge, which you couldn’t really tell from looking at the front door, inside was very modern Korean style and the servers were soo polite, just didn’t expect they were all guys instead of the traditional female servers.  Food was fantastic, everything was soo fresh and all the meat was not too salty like the other ones I have tried.  Price wise is really good compare to other Korean restaurants in other areas, overall experience was excellent!!!

If you have a few friends and want to spend a good time/food over dinner, this is a very nice pick if you don’t mind the distance, I would definitely go back and try more of their other stuffs on their menu, YUM YUM!!!

Of course, thanks to Cheryl, Ruby, Jason, Vivian and Shu for this amazing birthday dinner, amazing choice.  AND I have to say, Happy Birthday to Ruby as well because hers is only 2 weeks away from mine 🙂  Thanks guys!!!

CLUNY Bistro

I was told a lot of money was put inside this place so we had to check it out 🙂  In the heart of The Distillery District Toronto, there is CLUNY Bistro, a 11,000 sq. ft French restaurant which is surrounded by tons of historical buildings.  What a perfect place to celebrate Vivian’s birthday!!!

The front door really doesn’t tell you the size of the restaurant, I walked by a few times and I never noticed this place, but ones you walk in, I was overwhelmed with the interior design and space.  Everything is very French, from china sets to dinning tables, even the floor and ceilings are soo much in detailed, very pretty everywhere.  Food was fabulous, they have my favorite “octopus” and “frog legs”!!!  Portion wise it’s small but with a big taste, it’s quite perfect if you want a chit chat gathering with friends and family in my opinion.  Of course at the end, it comes with a price tag which was expected, but still it’s worth a try especially after spending an afternoon in The Distillery District and you are looking for a nice diner 🙂

Barsa Taberna

This time we tried something different for Karen’s birthday other than our regular routine Japanese or Chinese, Barsa Taberna – a Spanish restaurant with a little fusion twist, located right at St. Lawrence Market area in the heart of downtown Toronto.

All the dishes we had taste as good as they look, we found the food portion is a little small if you are sharing with 8 people LOL, another way of saying is, it’s more like a restaurant that if you are just looking to nibble 😛  Some dishes were a little too salty to my taste and some had too much herbs my friends said, service was very good, nice servers and a very cozy environment.  Overall, it is perfect for gatherings and to spend hours catching up with friends 🙂  2014 top 10 restaurants in Toronto, got to be good!!!

Sorry, I don’t have all the names of our orders, you might have to show these pictures to the server while you are there 😛

Grace + Cindy’s Birthday party at Cheryl’s

Perfect timing at a perfect place, finally we could have a small little house party with only friends :-P, our lovely Cheryl provided her place to have a celebration for Grace’s birthday and Cindy’s coming soon.  The most funny part was, it was Grace that asked for a party herself at Cheryl’s and she even bought herself a cake LOL.  Big thanks to Cheryl for letting us mess up her place, Karen for making us a super yummy ox tail pot, Ruby for her tasty chicken wings and of course, the kids for not bothering us at all, and of course Grace for buying us a cake, not breaking anything LOL.  We really enjoyed the chatty night, something that we haven’t done for quite a while and hope that there will be more to come in the near future just like the old times 🙂

Wishing Grace and Cindy a Happy happy birthday and everyday will be better and better 🙂

BIG BBQ 2014

Is it a tradition or not?  A BIG BBQ at Cheryl’s house, this year we had 30+ people attended, a little less than last year but still pretty big 🙂  I missed a few previous parties so I was really looking forward to see my friends that I haven’t seen for a long time.  One special guest, Anita and her daughter came back from Hong Kong for a short visit.

I remember back in the days, we used to drink (alcohol) like crazy but we are not in our 20s now, so we didn’t drink much this time, hehe  The weather was super nice, we actually had concerns that it might rain but it didn’t, tons of food, lots of catching up with each others and of course it was a total madness with the kids playing bubbles 😛  At the end of the night, our stomachs were filled, some even got take out because there was just soo much food left, I couldn’t even describe the level of fun we had, just take a look at the smile/laugh in my pictures.  Huge thanks to Auntie for preparing everything and of course Cheryl for making this to happen 🙂  Hopefully we can have another party like this on the next weekend, hehe
