LED toys!!!

As you probably read my previous pot lights post http://www.karlng.com/blog/?p=5537 , I had been searching for a perfect solution to save my energy bill. Other than GU10, I have also received a few other LED toys like E27 to replace my regular light bulbs and 2 LED camera lights (macro LED and 160 LED Video light) for my camera fun. After a few tests, glad I bought all those because they actually turned out pretty good, E27 is as bright as the a 40w light bulb and the camera lights are like super well made/bright. If anyone is interested, feel free to contact me 😀

No more Halogen GU10

Most of my friends know that I have tons of pot lights in my house and pot lights (Halogen GU10) uses a lot of energy (at least 35W each).  I was always shocked every time when I looked at my energy bill, so my parents and I usually don’t turn any of them on because of that.  But some time ago, I was introduced to some new LED GU10 that uses as low as 5W power and it’s even brighter than halogen.  Although I have tried a few different brands LEDs, none of them is as bright as the ones I finally got (500 lumens), it’s about time to step into the new technology :p.

I thought about posting a picture of the final result but you can’t really tell the big difference unless you see it in person, so instead I am posting an aftermath picture, the leftover halogen GU10 bulbs :p  This is a picture of what happened after over 100+ bulbs were switched into LED bulbs 😀

So if anyone wants some halogen GU10s, feel free to let me know 😀  Oh, and you might also want to ask, how much I spent on my LEDs, the answer is “don’t ask” :p  But if you are interested to change all your halogen lights to LEDs, let me know and I will give you a price 😀

This is what I have replaced, uses 5w of power and 500 lumens, only about $10 each 😀

Seiko Premier Kinetic Perpetual

Most of my friends know that I am a super shopper/collector on all kinds of goodies when I see something I like, I usually get :p  This time, a watch!!  I had been looking for another watch for some time and I finally decided to get this Seiko Premier Kinetic Perpetual, mainly because I had never owned a kinetic watch plus I found a very good deal at Times Circle (時間坊)@ First Markham Place.  If anyone is wanting to get a Seiko watch, they are doing a promotion on Seiko right now, so don’t miss out the chance 😀

And of course, with this beauty on my hand, how could I resist to take a pretty picture with my NEX-5 :p

SRH750DJ

I always wanted a nice set of headphones and I finally found one,  SRH750DJ by Shure.  Had been thinking about it for sometime, one of the reasons was I bought a professional mic already – Blue Microphones Yeti Professional USB Microphone (Part 2) might as well buy a nice set of headphones to go with it, plus I was thinking about doing some recording in the future, so that gives me enough excuses to buy that no doubt :p  Anyhow, the headset is a little heavier than others in its class but it feels soo durable and professional which I like and sound quality is really good of course.  It comes with a small carrying pouch and a detachable cord, so it is very good for travelling if you don’t mind big headphones :p

Blue Microphones Yeti Professional USB Microphone (Part 2)

This is a follow up post of Blue Microphones Yeti Professional USB Microphone that I put up about 4 months ago.

Call me crazy but I had been wanting to do this for a long time after I got this Yeti mic.  I did quite a lot research and people really seem to like this microphone a lot so I decided to so some more upgrades to it.  After all, this is a Blue microphone, of course the accessories are also from Blue, I couldn’t find the anti shock mount The Radius anywhere in Toronto but instead, I could only find the one for Snow Ball and not for Yeti, so I had to order it from Amazon.  Also got a German made K&M mic stand from Cosmo Music (one of my favorite music instrument store) in Toronto.  So now, I can do some awesome recordings, plus many many other stuffs and at least look more like a professional, just ignore the out come tho would you? :p
