KINGYO (金魚)

Yes, it was that time of the year again and thanks my good friends for a birthday dinner celebration for me and Ruby!!!  Another great Japanese restaurant pick located in downtown Toronto again, KINGYO (金魚) 🙂  I have to say out of all Japanese restaurants I have tried, this one probably has the most comfortable seats out of all.  Tho it says izakaya (Japanese grilled), they don’t really have a lot izakaya to choose from but what I like the most was, everything tasted not as salty as the other izakaya and their sushi/sashimi tasted very good as well as their presentation.  I would recommend this place to friends especially if you are looking to find a izakaya restaurant which is not as noisy so you can actually chat with your friends, and not to mention, the place is actually quite large, hehe.  If you are interested to try this place out, I believe you will have to make a reservation AND you will only have 2 hours of eat time or they WILL kick you out, just a friendly reminder 😛

Weekend get away!!!

Most people know me as a stay home geek and yes, I was and I am hoping I will be transformed into an outdoor adventurist soon.  I really haven’t done something like this for ages but a weekend get away was what I needed, other than hanging out the shopping malls all the time, went to a few places over the whole weekend for a change.

Welland Canals, first time ever seen a ship passing through a canal in action, 2 things that totally amazed me, first was the person driving the ship because the canal was super tight, second was the speed while the ship was being raised.

Port Dalhousie, probably the most beautiful and calm area I have even been in Ontario, the view of the sunset just above the lake was just amazing, it was very refreshing after just a short walk along the port.

Buffalo, the last time I was there was when I got my immigration papers and needed to exit Canada and came back in.  After 20+ years, it certainly seems the same, some area can be very dead and some can be very lively. The lineup through the border was way longer than I expect even it wasn’t a long weekend abut it was a good experience to be back after soo many years.

Queenston Heights, yet another beautiful and calm place, you could pretty much spend a whole day doing whatever there, I saw people having Birthday parties, BBQ, kitting, baseball, walking jogging etc.  There is even a restaurant there if you want to have a beer or dinner with a great view of the lake if you want to spend your day that way too :-p

Niagara on the Lake, sigh…  tho I had been to it a few times, I didn’t even know there is a beautiful country road Niagara River Parkway…  Anyways, it’s all about wineries!!!  Jackson Triggs FTW!!!

and there are a whole lot more to see on my facebook here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151782892390211.1073741829.689775210&type=1&l=8d12932ff7

Edwards Gardens

Bright summer day is always beautiful but summer is slowly going away and I did manage to take a few pretty summer pictures at Edwards Gardens.  My last visit was last year at a photo shoot for my friend’s wedding, the relaxing feel was totally unforgettable so I figuared why not go for a short visit.  The parking lot was very full, I guess people had decided to feel the summer one last time before it goes away during the long weekend 😛  It was really a perfect day for a walk at the park, weather was very nice and cool, didn’t really expect to see any flowers because it was August already but I did find a few interesting things and it really was a very enjoyable afternoon.  Here are a few pictures I took 🙂

Gelato simply Italian

Gelato simply Italian, located on Yonge St. and south of Eglinton Ave. W, a fabulous true Italian Ice cream shop.  Tho I am not an ice cream person but I was told their gelato is made with fresh ingredients, and the servers are always friendly and helpful, so I had to give this place a try.  The decor is modern and roomy with Italian Art Deco prints and huge folding doors which open to allow the light to flood in from Yonge Street.  Price is not bad, a medium cup with 3 flavors and a small cup with 2 flavors together is about $10, umm, YUM YUM!!!  It turned out my Pistachio and Nocciolato was pretty good and surprisingly, I didn’t see any florescent color in there, so that tells me the ingredients are very natural.  I would recommend this place to my friends and while you are there, you should explore the area too because there are tons of shops and restaurants in the area 🙂

Richmond Hill Ribfest 2013

Surprise surprise, this ribfest is turning into a children playfest more than a ribfest really 😛  As most of the people know, the size of the food area is always smaller than Markham ribfest, mostly the same people/restaurants, music is always good, but the play area is getting bigger and bigger each year.  Didn’t really eat anything there this time but I really wanted to enjoy this event in a good weather. While I was walking towards to the main area, I was totally surprised by the amount of rides they had for kids, rides everywhere, even rock climbing really??  And why would they sell beer cheaper than the other ribfest?!?!  In conclusion assuming if they are doing the same next year, looking for food, you should definitely go Markham, want to spend a day with your kids, Richmond Hill is the place hehe.
