Dinner at 輝煌閣 (Royal TeaHouse Dim Sum Specialist)

I had to decide where to take my uncle for a nice Chinese dinner out and I wanted to try out something different  so instead of going somewhere that I have already been to, I decided to go 輝煌閣 (Royal TeaHouse Dim Sum Specialist) , as I was told they are not only good at dim sums, their dinner should be very good as well.  It turned out everything we ordered was pretty good, lobster was tendered, fish was cooked just right, the chicken was just the way I liked and price wise, for about $100 CAD for 4 of us was actually not bad compare to Hong Kong my uncle said 😛  Anyways, if you want to make a reservation, 905.946.1898 is their number, and in case you don’t know where it is, their address is 10 Applecreek Blvd., Building B, Unit 3, Markham, ON, L3R 5Z1 (Woodbine Ave. and Applecreek Blvd.)

Uncle Miguel’s surprise visit!

What a surprise, the last time I saw Uncle Miguel was in year 1999, back in the days when he was lean and skinny but now, ummm, LOL  Anyhow, Toronto was a first stop for his business trip, staying here for 2 days is not a very long time so right after I picked him up at the airport, we went straight ahead to dinner.  Since we didn’t have a lot of time to pick and realized uncle Miguel wanted to try something different from Hong Kong, I decided to bring him to one of my favorite restaurants, Moxie’s 😀  As always, food was amazing, glad that uncle Miguel was happy about my choice and totally enjoyed the conversation we had 🙂

Casa Victoria Fine Dinning and Banquet (紫爵金宴)

To celebrate Mathew and Betty’s super cute new born, I was invited to their dinner celebration at Casa Victoria Fine Dinning and Banquet (紫爵金宴), a restaurant that is made for Chinese fine dinning, also a great gathering reunion with my old colleagues too 🙂  Did really have a close look at the baby because he was sleeping most of the time even with loud noise surrounded but I did take a few pictures while he was awake.  The night was busy because I had to run around and take pictures, of course I also had to find time to enjoy the food as well 😛  Food was very good consider this was a once in a while occasions dinner which we don’t get to try from day to day life, just take a look at the amazing pictures below and you would know what I mean 😀

馬力雄咖啡店 (Marathon Donuts and Coffee Shop)

馬力雄咖啡店 (Marathon Donuts and Coffee Shop), their main location is in Scarborough and they just opened up one in Richmond Hill on East Beaver Creek Rd.  This is not a fancy or anything expensive restaurant, it is just Hong Kong Style Cafe/restaurant that has won a lot of awards in the last few years because of their Hong Kong style tea (港式奶茶) so definitely I would have to check that out.  Once you go in, don’t expect anyone would come serve you, just find yourself a seat because it is a restaurant where you have to order everything at the counter and pay at the counter.

The Hong Kong style tea (港式奶茶) was amazing compare to 99% of the other Chinese restaurants really.  I went in the morning, so I only tried their breakfast, really don’t have much comments on that, everything was alright I guess 😛  Anyways, when you drive by and you want a GOOD tea, drop by because they probably have the best HK style tea in the neigbourhood.

輝煌閣 (Royal TeaHouse Dim Sum Specialist) with Aunties

Perfect timing to celebrate Christmas and New Year with a dim sum lunch with the aunties/Joe sir, the last time we had a gathering was over a month ago at 利家盛酒家.  If you remember, Joe sir got a terrible burn on his hands the last time we saw him and gladly they are perfectly fine now.  It was our Joe sir’s choice to go 輝煌閣 (Royal TeaHouse Dim Sum Specialist), located at the corner of Woodbine ave. and Applecreek.  Most dim sum places don’t last very long but this is one of the those restaurants that has survived for years, and I was right, everything tasted as good as years ago, some even better too.  The location is perfect because it is very close to my work place, and I go to the same plaza almost every week for lunch, just not dim sum but now, this is really a good choice for me and my colleagues to kill time haha.  Not to mention I have a 10% discount too, but lunch only 😛  If anyone who works in the area are interested, let me know and we can have lunch there 😀

BTW, What is Dim Sum in case you don’t know?

Dim sum refers to a style of Chinese food prepared as small bite-sized or individual portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. Dim sum is also well known for the unique way it is served in some restaurants, wherein fully cooked and ready-to-serve dim sum dishes are carted around the restaurant for customers to choose their orders while seated at their tables.

Eating dim sum at a restaurant is usually known in Cantonese as going to “drink tea” (yum cha, 飲茶), as tea is typically served with dim sum.
