Peter and Kelly’s post wedding thank you gathering

Umm, Sunny and I (best man and groomsman) didn’t really do much on Peter and Kelly’s wedding really hehe, Sharon and Susan (bridesmaid and the mate of honor) did tons more than we did :p  Anyhow, we are very honored to be invited to their home again for a post wedding thank you dinner.  Too bad Art couldn’t make it to the dinner because he wasn’t feeling well and had to stay home, of course the nice Wifey Sharon had to stay home as well to take care of the huby :p  We hope he will get well soon and join our next gathering because it was awesome :p  Kelly must had spent a lot of time because there were a lot of tasty food on the table when I walked in and of course I wouldn’t walk in their house empty handed so I brought in my specialty mango mousse as dessert 🙂  It was my first time trying Kelly’s cooking and she is actually a pretty good cook, just take a look at the pictures below to believe it :-p  P.S. minus the sushi plate tho hehe

Let’s hope Art and Sharon can be there next time because they missed a lot :p and thanks Peter and Kelly for inviting us over for dinner 😀

Malaysia & Asian Cuisine (膳園)

My friends wanted to treat me and Ruby an early birthday dinner and decided to try out Malaysia & Asian Cuisine (膳園), the most Authentic Malaysian, Singaporean and Indonesian Cuisine of all the restaurants in Scarborough (Toronto and GTA).  We rarely try Malaysian food so we were very excited about the experience.  Once we got there, I was actually quite surprised about the size of the place and it was totally  packed, but sadly, too many cars and not enough parking spaces…  Anyhow, once we got inside, a mouth watering strong scent of herbs surrounded us and that made me like the restaurant even more already :-p  The varieties on the menu was amazing, it was supposed to be very hard to decide what to get but instead, it was pretty easy pick our choices because we just ordered everything we wanted, hehe.  At the end, we were very satisfied with everything, no wondered they were around for 17 years as I was told 🙂  Anyways, this is a place where I would recommend people to try out and you will not be disappointed, trust me 😀

BTW, big thanks to Karen, Simon, little Marcus and Jason for the amazing dinner, you guys are the best ;-D

Peanut Butter Nutella Cookies

Since CowCow likes this cookie so much and he asked me to post the recipe, therefore here it is 😀

Peanut Butter Nutella Cookies

Ingredients (makes 28 cookies)
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
• 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
• 1/3 cup Nutella
• 1 large egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions
1. Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the melted butter, sugars, peanut butter, Nutella, egg and vanilla extract in a large bowl until well blended.
2. Sift the dry ingredients in another bowl and carefully add to the wet mixture. Mix on low speed just until combined. Cover and refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.
3. Preheat oven to 350F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Use a small ice-cream scoop to shape the dough into balls then flatten them on your palm slightly.
4. Place the disks two inches apart on the baking sheets
and bake for 13-15 minutes. When you pull them out of the oven they will seem too soft. Use a spatula to transfer them to a wire rack.

Richmond Hill Ribfest 2012

About a year ago, I went to the Markham ribfest, unfortunately I missed the one this year which was 2 weeks ago and I would be very disappointed if I missed the Richmond Hill ribfest at Richmond Green Park.  Though the size of this is smaller than the one in Markham but with 6 professional rib teams would be enough to fill our stomachs, after all, we could only try maybe a couple at a time :p  We got there at about noon and the first thing I went for was a deep fried blooming onion because I hadn’t had one for soo long, of course I would not miss out the ribs and pulled pork 😀  Anyways, my pictures below would tell you the rest of the story 😀

O Mei

Although I had not been going to cooking lessons for a while, I am still very connected with my Aunties (cooking class classmates).  Joyce and Debbie are 2 of my top favorite aunties, so of course I would have to organized a dinner gathering to celebrate their birthday this week.  O Mei, located on 420 Hw# 7 Richmond Hill, just right at the MacDonald’s plaza.  A restaurant that has been around for a long long while, I have heard a lot of good words about their dinner varieties especially their lobsters dishes but never experienced it, so I thought I should definitely give this a try.

There was no doubt that the first thing we ordered was a 9+ lbs lobster/5 (龍蝦五吃), Chicken with 2 tastes (鳳雙飛), Taiwanese oyster (台式生蠔) and some misc. dishes.  It was totally a weight gaining experience because everything tasted and looked so good so I just kept on stuffing myself :p  Plus, because Debbie and Christine know the manager, we got soo many varieties of dessert for free…  At the very end, we cleaned out everything on the table, stuffed ourselves with a few pounds heavier belly and left the restaurant with a big smile on our faces 😀  2 big thumbs up!!!  Definitely a Chinese restaurant to consider if you are looking for a good Chinese diner even on weekdays if you know what I mean 🙂
